From Rep. Ron Shimanski
District 18A - Hutchinson
On Saturday, March 31, I held a listening session at the Silver Lake Auditorium regarding the Luce Line Trail pavement project. I wanted to extend my gratitude to the approximately 150 people who attended from Cedar Mills to Watertown. Winsted, Hutchinson and Silver Lake mayors were present, as well as township officials, trail users and land owners.
This initial meeting was a community outlet to let concerns and questions about trail development be heard. Although there were many people present with many conflicting views and differing interests, the meeting was very cordial and kept pretty civil.
Going forward with Luce Line Trail plans will be like going forward with this 2007 session. Now that all of the concerns have been heard, it will now be the responsibility of the Legislature to find common ground in negotiating a compromise.
I am looking forward to hearing more about this Luce Line Trail issue, so please keep me posted with your comments and questions.
