A special meeting of the Hutchinson City Council has been called for Monday, April 23, to meet with visiting U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar.
She’ll meet with the council at 12:15 p.m., at City Center, to discuss issues that affect the city, including federal funding for expansion of the wastewater treatment plant.
Mayor Steve Cook said the McLeod County Board of Commissioners and Hutchinson School District 423 Board of Education have been invited to send representatives to the meeting, too.
“It is an opportunity for all three groups to meet her,” Cook said.
Cook and City Engineer Kent Exner met Klobuchar in February during a visit to Washington, D.Ç., to talk to her, Sen. Norm Coleman and Rep. Colin Peterson about the treatment plant.
“We invited her to visit Hutchinson,” Cook said. “She’ll be coming from Montevideo and will be here only 30 minutes before leaving for the airport to return to Washington.”
