University of Minnesota Southwest Research and Outreach Center Crop Production Field Day
The complexities and challenges of today’s crop production systems demand that growers keep up to date with the latest research, technology and management strategies. To help producers, the University of Minnesota Southwest Research and Outreach Center, a unit of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, is hosting their annual field day from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 12 at Southwest Research and Outreach Center, 23669 130th St., Lamberton.
University of Minnesota's experts on crop production will be on hand to present information and answer questions about many of the factors currently influencing crop production in southwestern Minnesota.
Field tours will run throughout the morning, covering weed management and weed control economics, disease and insect control, fertility issues and interactions, managing corn following corn, and other agronomy issues. Organizers suggest arriving promptly at 8 a.m. to participate in all tours. Coffee and donuts will be available between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
In addition to field tours, the field day features displays and opportunities for discussion on identification and control of weed, insect, and plant disease problems, crop economics and marketing, and conservation, agriforestry, and renewable energy in southwest Minnesota with educators from the University of Minnesota Extension, and the Southwest Minnesota Farm Business Management Association.
Crop production field day is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is not required. Lunch will be available between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. There is a charge for the lunch.
