Hutchinson gained its third health club New Year's Eve when Snap Fitness opened downtown on the second floor of the new Cornerstone Commons building, 114 Main St. N.
Snap Fitness is a franchise fitness center concept founded in 2003 in the Twin Cities by Peter Taunton, a Willmar native. It has 207 locations across the country.
Owners of the new Hutchinson franchise are Christina and Jason Clark of Dassel and her parents, Paul and Sue Yates of Cokato. They currently operate Snap Fitness centers in Montrose and Howard Lake, and have plans to open centers in Dassel, Lester Prairie, Long Prairie and Winsted.
The Clarks’ 3,800-square-foot Snap Fitness in Cornerstone Commons is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through the use of key card access. It is a pay-as-you-go system with no contracts. Snap Fitness costs $34.95 per month for singles and $49.95 per family, but it also accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Partners and Medica. That can provide members up to $40 per month off on a family membership.
