Plans are set for the 2008 Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival Kiddy Day on Saturday, June 14. Festivities include a parade, Junior Royalty coronation and entertainment.
Kiddy Day will begin at 10 a.m., when costumed children register for judging at Library Square in downtown Hutchinson. Categories for the parade are Movie and TV Characters, Sports Figures, Historical Figures, Storybook Characters, Pets and Animals, Wheels and Wagons, Clowns and Bums, and Miscellaneous.
Open to area children of all ages, parade registration ends at 10:45 a.m. The parade will begin promptly at 11 a.m. with the route weaving throughout Library Square. In case of rain, all events will be moved to the Hutchinson Recreation Center, 900 Harrington St.
Cash awards will be given to the children judged to be the first-, second-, and third-place winners in each of the eight categories. Prizes will be presented at the program following the parade. The first-place winners of each category will ride on a float during the Grande Day Parade Sunday, June 15.
The 2008 Junior Royalty will be named at the program, and a girl’s and a boy’s bicycle will be given away to registrants who are present. Following the program there will be a performance by the Hutchinson Showstopper Dance Team.
