After falling in two tough games with Cold Spring and Maple Plain in the first week of the amateur baseball season, the Hutchinson Huskies got its first win of the season in a 7-3 defeat of Loretto Sunday.

With the score tied at three in the eighth inning, Mike Kutter’s suicide squeeze bunt with the bases loaded allowed the winning run to cross.

The pitch was high and tight on Kutter, but he was able to get the bat on the ball in a critical situation in the game.

On an errant throw to first base, all three runners scored and Kutter found himself on second base. Tim Thode added an insurance run with an RBI-single.

Corey Trick pitched all nine innings for his first win of the season.
