Come cheer on my squad tonight

Hey blog fans~

You have an opportunity to come check out the VFW 15s team (I help coach this squad) at 6 p.m. tonight at Veterans Memorial Field. We play Arlington and we're 4-4 on the season.

We're also at home Saturday in a doubleheader with Glencoe at 1/3 p.m. (but I was told last night that it might be 11/1).

How about those Huskies last night? Note to teams in the future, this team gets a bit angry following a loss. See Delano (10-1) and Maple Plain (11-1) for evidence.

It's nice to see the young kids step in and really contribute. Brian Meuleners has been the starting second baseman most of the season, but recently has been stroking the ball at the plate. He had three hits for the second straight game last night.

Thomas Jansick, who hasn't caught since eighth or ninth grade, has behind the plate for injured Justin Juergensen the past two nights. He has thrown out just as many runners that have stolen (one). Matt Timm also has pitched four scoreless innings of late (he'll start against Edina Friday in Victoria) and Torey Prahl got his first hit as a Huskie last night.

I'm around the guys a lot, and I hear plenty of comments about how nice it is to have a good fan base home and away. It's great to see families and friends out there, but it's the casual fans that keep coming back that is good to see. VMF is a wonderful ball park and the Huskies (14-5) are a fun team to watch.

By the way, happy belated sixth birthday to Emily Messner!
