I believe the town of Hutchinson should start a big 4th of July event. We could draw a lot of people to town for a fun festive day. We could host a bunch of activities in the santuary for children and adults. I went to Eden Prairie for the 4th and it was a great time. They had bands playing throughout the day beside the lake, had an old ice rink area with a bunch of blow up activities for kids, face painting, people grilling out, concession stands, a beer trailer, (needed a beer garden), and ended with a great show of fireworks over the lake. They raises money for the fireworks through all the events, concession fees and so on. They were selling tickets for the kids activities, most activities were 4 tickets or $1.00. This is a one day event and they had thousands of people there. The school parking lots were completely full with cars, along with all the side streets, and area business parking lots. I believe if this is set up right after a few years of doing it, people would be talking about a great place to go during the fourth. The fireworks show would have to be better than the Water Carnival fireworks. At least a half hour long is what people are looking for with a couple hundred fireworks alone in the grand finale. This could be done with out tax payer money. It will take some volunters and a greatteam to come up with the days events. Various organizations looking to raise money for their group could be responsible for certain events, getting a percent of the earnings. Very easy concept. What do you think?
