The Aug. 7 dedication of the renamed Joseph P. More than 500 visitors from across the United States visited Hutchinson Sunday to tour three local dairy operations. Buses stopped at the farms of Loren and Laura Olson, Scott and Jackie Rickeman and John and Bonnie Mohr. The tour was part of the National Holstein Convention conducted in Bloomington June 26-29. Corvette owners showed off their shiny sports cars Saturday next to Hutchinson’s Library Square as part of the third annual Corvettes for a Cause. Hutchinson celebrated Lindsay Whalen Day at the event center Friday, May 7. The day was capped off with a pep rally that included basketball skill challenges, speeches by Mayor Steve Cook and Hutchinson coach Andy Rostberg as well as a Q and A with Whalen. She also signed autographs for all of her fans afterward.

Rudy Goldstein's 2,500-mile journey from Hutchinson to Hudson Bay began Sunday morning. Following a route charted in 1930 by the late newsman Eric Sevareid and Walter Port, Goldstein hopes to be the first to complete the voyage by kayak.
