PoliceMaple Grove woman dies in crash near Cedar MillsJune 30, 2008 - 1:16pm — Jorge SosaA 22-year-old Maple Grove woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash Sunday (June 30) near Cedar Mills. The State Patrol has not released the name of the woman, pending notification of family. On June 18, 2007, McLeod County Sheriff’s Deputy Jennifer Mueller was dragged for about 20 to 25 feet on Highway 212, east of Stewart, by an escaping suspect’s vehicle. Mueller had stopped Jerry Dean Burt, of Olivia, after he earlier left the scene of a domestic assault. Silver Lake student injured in fatal crashMay 29, 2008 - 10:48am — Jorge SosaAn 18-year-old Silver Lake resident was one of four high school seniors involved in a fatal crash Wednesday night (May 28). According to the State Patrol, Mitchell Bayerl of Silver Lake was in criticial condition after the two-vehicle crash, which occurred at about 6:11 p.m., at the intersection State Highway 55 and Wright County Road 6. A total of six people were injured and one — Madeysen Kleve, 18, of Howard Lake, was killed. Missing 3-year-old girl is foundMay 28, 2008 - 5:58am — Doug HannemanA 3-year-old Hutchinson girl who walked out the front door of her grandparents’ apartment around midnight was found early this morning (Wednesday, May 28.) Hutchinson police said the girl, Bailey Delis, wandered away from the home in her pajamas in the 800 block of School Road Northwest. A McLeod County sheriff's deputy and a resident spotted the girl between two homes on Colorado Court at 7:01 a.m. "We don't know exactly where she spent the night," Police Chief Dan Hatten said. "But she is perfectly fine." Hutchinson man leads St. Cloud police on high-speed chaseMay 22, 2008 - 10:55am — Lesley ChristiansonA Hutchinson man was arrested in St. Cloud last Thursday after leading police on a high-speed chase. After leading police on a several-block chase in a commercial area, the Pathfinder hit a cement median and a stop sign, slid a short distance and rolled onto its side. The crash took place near the Coborn’s Superstore on Cooper Avenue. Crash near Glencoe injures oneMay 20, 2008 - 8:26am — Ardis TobisonA two-vehicle accident on State Highway 22 north of Glencoe Monday afternoon sent one driver to the hospital. According to a report issued by Minnesota State Patrol, a 2001 Pontiac Montana driven by Carolina Ramirez, 24, of Glencoe was waiting to turn left into a private lot, when her vehicle was rear-ended by a 1989 Chevrolet Camaro. Ramirez and her passengers, Wendy Barrera, 5, and Islam Barrera, 1, both of Glencoe, were not injured in the accident. Bomb squad detonates explosive device in Eden ValleyMay 6, 2008 - 3:41pm — Jorge Sosa(Note: Kristin Holtz, a staff writer at the Litchfield Independent Review, contributed to this report.) The Meeker County Sheriff's Office called the Minneapolis Bomb Squad to the Eden Valley City Hall Tuesday morning (May 6) after a man brought an explosive device into the building. At 9:34 a.m., the sheriff's office received a report from Eden Valley Police that a man found an explosive device while cleaning out a storage shed. He brought it to the City Hall-Police Department building, which was then evacuated. Sgt. 1st Class Tim Wettstein, an Iraq war veteran, presented Hutchinson Police Chief Dan Hatten with a special American flag during the police department’s station meeting Thursday. The flag was flown over Convoy Support Center Scania, Iraq, on Dec. 15, 2006, the 17th anniversary of the death of Hutchinson Police Officer Mike Hogan. Hogan, a Vietnam War veteran, was killed in the line of duty. Police Lt. Dave Erlandson had kept the flag since early 2007 so that Wettstein, who was serving in Iraq, could present the flag to Hatten himself.
Carver County shooting suspect arrested in WinstedMay 2, 2008 - 12:00pm — Jorge SosaAuthorities arrested a man wanted in connection with a Watertown shooting Thursday afternoon (May 1) in Winsted. Ryan Carl Lindeen, 44, allegedly came to the State Highway 25 home of a male relative early Thursday morning. A dispute and struggle over a .22-calibre rifle followed. The rifle discharged and a woman present was struck in the upper arm and lower leg. The Carver County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call at 6:21 a.m. Lindeen allegedly left the scene with a .22-caliber rifle and handgun. He was arrested at 3:30 p.m. in Winsted. Two men arrested after incident at VFWMay 2, 2008 - 10:27am — Doug HannemanTwo Hutchinson men were taken to the McLeod County Jail after authorities arrested them early Friday morning while responding to an alarm at VFW Post 906. Kyle Jeffrey Zelm, 21, and Nicholas Brian Ortloff, 20, were arrested shortly after 1:15 a.m. after a McLeod County sheriff’s deputy stopped a car leaving the VFW on Adams Street. Moments earlier, a Hutchinson police officer had arrived on the scene and found a door unlocked on the building’s west side. |
