McLeod and Meeker county veterans living in senior care facilities will be warmer this winter thanks to fleece blankets created by a small group of women in Hutchinson.
The women, members of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Unit 37, collected fabric, cut it to 5-by-6 blanket size and embroidered each blanket with “Made By DAVA Unit 37 Hutchinson.”
The blankets were delivered Wednesday on Veterans Day to facilities in four cities — 10 to Litchfield, eight to Dassel, 17 in Glencoe, three to Cedar Crest Estates in Hutchinson and 15 at Burns Manor, also in Hutchinson.
DAVA member Nancy Greve and her crew met at Hutchinson VFW Post 906, and over two days made the 53 blankets. The group included Robyn Kenney and her daughter, Jennie, LeeAnn Karg, Iola Henke, Roxanne Jensen, Dorothy Klawitter and Adeline Longhenry.
