The board’s personnel committee recommended an exception for travel to Fargo. The North Dakota city has historically been a site for several training events and conferences attended by county employees and is closer to Glencoe than some in-state destinations.
Another exception the board allowed was for County Highway Engineer John Brunkhorst to travel to Washington, D.C., as part of an annual transportation “fly-in.” This meeting allows the county to lobby its congressional representatives for federal road and bridge money. The board deemed it a worthwhile trip for the funding it can generate locally.
The new policy requires staff returning from an out-of-state training event or conference to present their findings or accomplishments to the County Board.
