According to the State Patrol, Glenn Diers, 77, of Winsted, was westbound in the right lane of U.S. Highway 14 near the Victory Drive intersection. Diers changed to the left lane to make a u-turn and his 1998 Dodge Intrepid was rear-ended by a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, also westbound in the left lane.
Diers and his wife, Elizabeth, both received injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver of the Silverado — Kylee O’Hearn, 21, of Owatonna — had no documented injuries. The Diers were treated at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
The crash occurred shortly before 12:45 p.m. Both vehicles were severely damaged. Assisting agencies included the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, Mankato police and fire departments, and Gold Cross Ambulance.
