Humm wow some good ideas for making a real book. I’ll give it a whirl. I think as for storage I’ll make 2-3 books and give each to different relative. That way someone has got a book somewhere. Thought even a locker at a bank type thing but we’ll see.
Thanks guys gonna check that stuff out now.

Peanut:
Perhaps you missed it when reading the Oct. 12, 2010, print edition of the Leader, but at the top of page 8A, the Business page, I had a story about Terry Kempfert.
She is a Hutchinson woman who is a personal publishing consultant for Heritage Maker, a Utah-based company that produces family history books and other products for families. Much of the work can be online and she can help you through the process and software, including scanning photos for you that would then be downloaded into the book. One client produced a 99-page, 12-inch by 12-inch book with 2,000 photos!
I had Kempfert recently scan 1,683 photos (a fraction of the family photos I inherited with the death of my parents in recent years.) She is able to do literally dozens with an automatic scanner in the time it would take someone to scan one photo on the typical flatbed scanner. She burned 15 “gold archive, 100-year” DVDs I provided her. I had everthing back in about 10 days or less. I’ve given each of my siblings copies of the DVDs and will provide some cousins other copies. They then can make more copies for others in their families. I then split the actual photos up by who is in them and turned them over to the various family members.
In the future, I could turn the scanned images into a book with the extensive family history information I have on both sides of my family.
Kempfert’s clients can create their own items on their own computer and have Heritage Maker produce and ship the books. She works one-on-one with clients, and has a workshop twice a month in her home.
To learn more about Heritage Maker or Kempfert, call her at 320-583-9100, or visit her websites at: ww.terrykempfert.com or www.celebrationstorybooks.com
Good luck with the project!

Hi,
I would stop by Crow River Press or Standard Printing in Hutchinson and find out what they can do in terms of printing and binding. They may be able to help you with your project.
Another suggestion is the Fed Ex Office (formerly Kinkos) in St. Cloud (or in the Twin Cities, many locations), they can help you, too. Explain to them what you want to do and they can give you ideas on the best way to do this. Visit the company’s website at http://fedex.com/us/office/. It explains how you can print online. Your finished book can be softbound or hardbound.
